u what penny bid and penny auction site interview

It all began when penny bid sites we noticed were trying to find great items for low prices just as many penny bidders out there. We stumbled upon penny auction sites and thought they were the “bee’s knee’s” so to speak; until we ran into problems like slow shipping, horrid customer service, never receiving items, and the like. It was then we decided to design our own penny auction site that was always customer oriented, always shipped in a timely manner, and was always around to answer their questions.
What kind of items do you offer? Do your auctions run on a schedule?

We offer a wide variety of items, ranging from bid packs, gift cards, games, dvds, sporting goods, and much more. As our user base grows we intend on having many larger ticket items up such as computers, tv’s, appliances, etc. Our auctions run 7 days a week, but at least for the forseeable future we will attempt to have most auctions ending between mid-late morning thru around midnight.

What are the timer increments between bids/does this vary by auction?

The timing increments vary by auction, and we also have auctions that are set up in the “Seat” style in which X number of bidders buy a seat so they know they only have a certain amount of competition.

How much are your bids?

Our bids are around £0.50/each.

What are your shipping costs? How long does it usually take for users to receive their items?

We realize that everyone is out there trying to get a bargain on the things they want. With that in mind we are offering low cost shipping on ALL of our items. We will continue to offer shipping as long as we can maintain enough customers to stay afloat! We’re looking to be a site for the customers, by the customers. Our items ship within 72 hours received payment on a closed auction.

What states/countries are you open to?

We are open to all states in the UK , USA, including Alaska and Hawaii. and just expanded internationally.

What is your policy for bid refunds?

We try to be as fair as possible to all of our customers. If the situation warrants a bid refund, we will issue it. 9 times out of 10 when a situation arises we will take the customer’s side on things. If it’s an error caused by our server or site, or anything along those lines we will definitely refund bids and probably be tossing in a few extra for the trouble!

Is there a story behind the name/theme?

The only story behind it would be it was the feeling we felt when on an auction site looking at something we loved. It was that “Gotta Bid” impulse that all of us feel when we see that big ticket item at such a low price… we tried to capture that and we personally think it’s just plain catchy!

U WHAT PENNY PIDS AND PENNY AUCTION NEWS

“Here we are, a group of like minded people who participate in penny auctions, and some even own penny auctions.

I suspect that many penny auction site owners watch this forum to keep their thumb on the pulse of the user community.

Lets use this site to tell all existing and future penny auctions site owners exactly what we want.

Keep it realistic, the site has to make a profit so no comments about 1-cent per bid or other non-realistic things.

The power bidders need to be able to make a good daily profit – the causal bidders need to be protected.

* how quickly should items won be shipped
* what is the ideal price point for how much we should be charged for bids
* anything that happens in a penny auction that matters to you… you should list it here.

Again, lets keep it all realistic so that site owners can come here and see in real-time exactly what their customer base wants and give them the opportunity to provide it rather than just posting about things you don’t like in various auctions.

I’ll get it started… to me, the shipping fees are an issue. Some sites do not charge shipping fees, other sites do, none of it is standardized.

So, if I owned a penny auctions site, I think I would try using the overstock.com shipping practice…. no matter what the item is, charge a flat rate fee for any shippable item.

The site owner will take a loss on shipping on a few items, break even on most items, and turn a small profit that makes up the previous losses on a few items.
